C. Carstens to Celebrate New Paintings at Carstens Fine Art Studio & Gallery

Carstens Fine Art Studio & Gallery will host a party to celebrate 9 new works of art by Artist/Owner Cyndy Carstens on Thursday, February 7, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, held during the Scottsdale Arts District Gold Palette “Western” ArtWalk. The evening will include live music performed by renowned Harpist Jocelyn Obermeyer, and light refreshments along with an opportunity to meet and speak with the artist.

The new paintings emphasize atmosphere, movement and expressive color contrasted with subtle elements. Some of the pieces utilize images constructed with an oil paint produced by the artist using graphite powder as the pigment giving the impression of a drawing within the artwork. Her new oil paintings were created to inspire hope, dedicated to all who have dealt with, suffer from, are fighting or have survived cancer. “Cancer is personal. It affects each person differently making a single cure unlikely. However, through research and hope possibilities are endless. Hope for the individual and their families is as important as the research itself,” explains Carstens.

Exploring cloud formations and color combinations, examining the ever-changing weather patterns of the Southwest, balanced by organic forms and landscape, her compositions offer tranquil imagery, a luminous color palette and a masterful use of line. The work is powerful and uplifting. “Hope strengthens our will to continueforward and perhaps one day lead us to a place of peace,” affirms Carstens.

Carstens has exhibited her work extensively across the country. Her work is represented by UGallery of San Francisco, CA; and Curator Engine, Tempe, AZ as well as her own gallery.
