Space 55

(Phoenix, Ariz.) Artistic Director Duane Daniels has announced that Space 55 will extend its run of the David Mamet play, SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO, at least through January.  Performances will resume after the holidays, beginning January 9 at 10:30 pm and performing each Saturday for their late night slot:  Jan 9, 16, 23 & 30 at 10:30 pm.  Tickets are $12 and are on sale at www.space55.org

The cast for this retrospective on the sex and disco scene of the late 1970’s includes includes two members of the Space 55 Ensemble – Ron Foligno as Bernie and Marcella Grassa as Joan, as well as Shannon Phelps taking the role of Deborah.  The role of Danny is TBA.

The show is directed by Space 55 Artistic Director, Duane Daniels.

“Its been great to have such packed houses for this show and we’re thrilled to be able to extend it.  “Sexual Perversity” is such a culture shock for all of us to see how far we’ve progressed as a society in regards to dating and relationships, and also how, in many ways we have not.” said Daniels.

When it debuted (1976), SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO won the Obie Award for “Best New American Play.” Mr. Mamet went on to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Drama with GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS and the New York Drama Critics Award for AMERICAN BUFFALO, among many other awards. This play is one of his earliest works.

Space 55 is located at 636 E. Pierce St, in downtown Phoenix.  Tickets are $12 and are on sale at space55.org
