The Fourth Corner

Elizabeth Kennedy Bayer is a composer, podcaster and publisher living in Tempe, AZ. She received her Masters in Music Composition from Arizona State University in 2010 and her Bachelors in Music Composition from Baylor University in 2008. Her works have been heard around Pheonix (Phoenix Art Museum and the Desert Botanical Gardens), coast to coast in the United States, and in Italy. Her music has been performed at the 2010 Cortona Sessions for New Music, the 2010 and 2011 highSCORE Festival, the 2009 Oregon Bach Festival Composer’s Symposium, the 2011 New Dischord Festival, the 2011 Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival and at The Cell Theatre in NY, NY. She is the 2009 winner of the Cambridge Chamber Singers’ Annual Choral Composition Competition. Elizabeth has studied composition with Scott McAllister, Roshanne Etezady, Glen Hackbarth, Rodney Rogers, Gabriella Lena Frank, Forest Pierce and Chris Theofanidis.

Elizabeth hosts and produces the podcast Train Wreck in Progress, a podcast dedicated to artists in the middle of new and challenging projects. Train Wreck in Progress typically features local artists (actors, composers, Djs, poets, etc), but when traveling, she has interviewed choral conductor Maria Guinand, virtuoso harmonica player Joe Powers, composer/sound artist Nick Zammuto, percussionist Todd Meehan, songwriter/actor Kevin J. Thonton and Mark Summers (also known as Captain Slappy and co-founder of International Talk like a Pirate Day). In addition to Train Wreck in Progress, Elizabeth also produces the podcast Music Nowadays. It runs in a similar fashion to NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts. Local bands are invited to perform in an intimate setting and the recording is made avilable in podcast form.

When Elizabeth is not sitting at her computer editing music or a podcast, she enjoys cycling, sipping  coffee, and going to see as many bands and chamber ensembles as she can manage.
