The Best of Scottsdale ArtWalk will once again bring the finest of Arizona-style artistry to the streets of the Scottsdale Arts District on Thurs., Feb. 16 from 7-9pm. The 8th annual event is hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association (SGA) in conjunction with American Art Collector magazine and the City of Scottsdale as a way to join the lineup of official Centennial events as we celebrate Arizona’s birthday 100 years ago.
Dozens of fine art galleries will be open to the public during Best of Scottsdale ArtWalk, with an extra Arizona emphasis on our homebred fine artists. Among the galleries featuring top local artists that evening are Legacy, Joan Cawley, Calvin Charles and Method Art.
The Scottsdale Gallery Association’s new YEA! – Young & Emerging Artists program will feature an artist demonstration at the northwest corner of Main Street & Marshall Way near the famed “Jackknife.” Hot java from Shine Coffee and pastry sales from Torched Goodness bakery will help raise funds for YEA! and the nonprofit SGA’s Arts Education Fund. As always, there are many fantastic eateries nearby that make “ArtWalk’s Recommended Restaurants” list.
Live music along the streets will feature sensational flutist Sherry Finzer, the Latin melodies of Bossa Nossa, keyboard impressions by Elijah Bossenbroek and master guitarists Carole Pellatt and John Calvert. There are also prize giveaways and other special doings to be found as one “ArtWalks the Line.”
The Scottsdale ArtWalk is located in the Scottsdale Arts District, featuring dozens of fine art galleries just west of Scottsdale Rd. along Main Street and on Marshall Way north of Indian School Road to Fifth Avenue. There’s lots of free parking and free trolley or carriage rides to all corners of the Arts District.

May 15th through May 18th: The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premieres of Jiro Dreams of Sushi and Damsels In Distress. 
May 16th: New York #39;s famous 92nd Street Y comes to Sedona on Wednesday, when the Sedona International Film Festival hosts the live simulcast of an evening with Elie Wiesel. The special event will take at 5:00 p.m. at the festival rsquo;s new Mary D. Fisher Theatre. 
May 18th through 20th: The Art and Craft Show at the Factory Outlets will have a fine array of artists and craftsmen as usual and there will be something for everyone. 
May 19th: The bizarre yet fascinating subject of cranial deformation has been largely avoided by archeologists, anthropologists and historians. The puzzle of headbinding is truly mystifying, and as yet, virtually unstudied. On Saturady, noted author David Hatcher Childress explores the research that has taken him to Egypt, Peru, Mexico, Malta and China (along with co-author anthropologist Brien Foerster), resulting in his latest book: The Enigma of Cranial Deformation. 
May 19th ndash; 20th: Plans are under way for the 47th Annual Jerome Historic Home and Building Tour. This longest running tour in the state of Arizona promises a look at the historic gems of this charming town including some never seen treasures that will delight visitors. 
May 26th and 27th: This is the 22nd year Zuni will gather at the Museum of Northern Arizona for the Zuni Festival of Arts and Culture, bringing with them cultural presentations, fine arts, music, and dances to explore A:shiwi philosophy, beliefs, worldviews, values, and current issues on the Zuni Indian Reservation. 
May 30th through June 3rd: The sixth annual Sedona Bluegrass Festival and residency runs Wednesday May 30 through Sunday June 3, with many of Bluegrass #39;s most important artists, emerging artists, and Arizona artists. 
Through May 31st: Lanning Gallery offers an exciting evening during Sedona rsquo;s 1st Friday Gallery Tour from 5-8 pm, May 4. The exhibition Howard Hitchcock: The Wisdom of Wit opens and the esteemed sculptor will not only be on-hand during the reception to give visitors one-on-one time but also gives a talk, with a QandA, at 6 p.m.
